Humanitarian Excellence Award for PDPO/DPI Pakistan

1st Humanitarian Excellence Awards Ceremony was held on 19th December 2010 in a local hotel in Karachi. The ceremony was arranged by Rakz Communications Pvt Ltd. The programme was presided by Mr. Kazi Asad Abid Chairman Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO).
Dignitaries from Government and non government organizations were invited in the event. The event was graced by the Minister for Education Sindh Pir Mazhar ul Haq who also gave away the awards while received his own award for his own services during the flood, by Kazi Asad Abid.

The ceremony was organized to appreciate NGOs in recognition for their contributions and accomplishments for the flood relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims of 2010 mega floods in Pakistan. 
 
Pakistan Disabled Peoples’ Organization (PDPO-DPI Pakistan) played a vital role to support flood affected people especially for persons with disabilities throughout country. All member organizations of DPI Pakistan from Khyber Pakhtoon Khawah to Sindh including all parts of Punjab. DPI members not provided only relief goods but also provided assistive devices with support of APCD and CBM/CHEF. Also raised funds locally and provided assistive devices purchased from local market. Member carried our assessments and is still busy in rehabilitation work. Because of excellent relief work and efforts made by PDPO/DPI Pak, DPI was nominated for the 1st Humanitarian excellence Award. Mr. Abid Lashari Vice President of DPI was contact person during relief works on behalf of DPI during recent floods in Pakistan with relief agencies. 
 
Mr. Lashari received the excellence award on behalf of PDPO/DPI Pak from Chief Guest Pir Mazhar ul Haq Provincial Minister for Education Sindh among hundreds of applauds, when minister hugs him for the efforts of persons with disabilities made during flood relief. The DPI-Pakistan was much appreciated during the ceremony because of its uniqueness and National level work. "It was great moment of happiness that I can not express in words", Abid Lashari expressed. He further said that persons with disabilities have passion, helpfulness, love and energies to help any one during the disasters. He said that they believe to serve the humanity and are committed to support in their capacity. He termed it as small token of appreciation but great honour for Pakistani Community with Disability and PDPO/DPI-Pakistan. He showed his commitment that members of PDPO/DPI Pak are ready, will stand up and play the vital role with fruitfully in rehabilitation of affected people of flood effected areas within their resources. Mr. Abid Lashari paid thanks to Rakz communication for nominating for the Award. 
 
Mr. Iqbal A. Khanzada CEO RAKZ Communications during his address extended his thanks to all attended the event and special thanks to Kazi Asad Abid who made everything possible for the event. He said that the award just meant to boost the energy for further help to the victims or any uncontrollable in future. Later Mr. Khanzada also briefed the media about the objectives of the event. The audience was also entertained by some Sufi music and a cultural show.

Sindh Disability Forum (SDF) visited Goth Seengar Foundation office Sukkur By: Nabi Bux Shar Newly elected body of SDF was invited to visit Goth Seengar Foundation (GSF) office Sukkur, Mr. Abid Mallah Finance Manager warm welcomed all SDF members. The office management introduced the programs of GSF. It was informed that the GSF is grass root organization that was emerged from village to develop capacities of villagers to be able to get basic facilities like clean drinking water, poverty alleviation, health & educational opportunities at village level.
